Make Your Own African Print Heritage Day Necklace
Celebrate South Africa’s rich cultures and colourful heritage by creating your own Heritage Day necklace. This easy craft activity gives children the freedom to experiment with bold colours and patterns while making something special to wear on Heritage Day.
Simple Steps
Step 2
Use your Maped colour pencils and felt-tip pens to colour the necklace. Choose bright colours and create your own unique combinations.
Step 3
Carefully cut around the outside of the necklace and the inner opening. Children may need adult supervision when using scissors.
Step 4
Use your Maped hole punch to make holes in each of the two marked tabs at the top of the necklace.
Step 5
Cut a piece of string long enough to fit comfortably around your neck. Thread one end through each hole and tie it securely.
Step 6
Your colourful Heritage Day necklace is ready to wear and celebrate!
Step 7
You can wear it colourful or leave it uncoloured, depending on the colours and patterns of your culture.
